(Noorderlicht International Photo Festival 2021: The Makeable Mind)

COUTUREBOY X STUDIO TOLAN - Photography 100 COUTUREBOYS, is a collaborative project born out of artist Gene Tolan's deep interest in understanding how images are created and interpreted at the confluence of three key elements: photography, the conceptualization of desires, the language of advertising and the influence these factors have on shaping individual and collective identities. It is an exploration into how our desires and aspirations are represented and communicated through advertising and how this, in turn, affects and mediates our sense of self and identity. This project was initiated via small business grant from Facebook, now Meta during the 2020 Covid 19 Pandemic.
